Hulu brand guidelines

Freedam's take

I love seeing how entertainment brands turn their signature visual devices into versatile design systems. Hulu does this through The Vessel, building an entire visual language around the form, from character spots to hero illustrations. The layout keeps things remarkably clear with a sticky left navigation that walks you straight from core identity basics like safe zones and color swatches right into static layouts and AV toolkits. Seeing dedicated layout patterns for single-show and multi-show formats is a great touch for production teams.

What I noticed

1. A left-hand sticky navigation provides access to brand sections including Logo, Color, Typography, and toolkits.¹²
2. Logo clear space requirements are measured using the height of the letter 'u'.³
3. The illustration system organizes styles into Character Spots and Hero Illustrations structured around a shape designated as 'The Vessel'.⁴⁵
4. Direct download links are provided for the comprehensive guide, logos, print guidelines, and icons.⁶⁷⁸⁹

Ideas to borrow

1. Structuring design toolkits by practical marketing formats—such as Single Show, Multi Show, and Library layouts—gives production designers ready-to-use structural blueprints.¹⁰
