GitHub brand guidelines

GitHub's Brand Toolkit provides detailed guidelines, asset downloads, brand attributes, and design systems for marketing and product UI.

Freedam's take — I love how thorough the GitHub Brand Toolkit is across every touchpoint. Looking through the documentation, I appreciate that they provide direct access to core resources, from zipped logo packages to their open source Mona Sans fonts on GitHub. The guidelines do not just stop at color palettes and the Invertocat mark; they outline personality attributes like Nerdy and Empathetic, motion, experiential work, and themes for Copilot and security. Having dedicated navigation for real-world scenarios makes the whole identity system feel remarkably practical.

Ideas to borrow

  1. Teams can provide open access to proprietary or custom typography via open repository links directly inside their brand guidelines.23
