BBC brand guidelines
BBC GEL is the BBC's shared digital experience framework, featuring foundations, practical how-to guides, motion principles, and studio culture articles.
Freedam's take — I have always appreciated how the BBC documents digital craft in public through GEL. It goes well beyond typical interface tokens by including practical guides for specific media, from voice interfaces to games onboarding and accessible error messaging. The motion guidelines stand out to me because they break down movement into simple, deliberate goals: connect, guide, and delight. Seeing studio culture and trainee spotlights sitting directly alongside core foundations like typography and grids gives the whole system an inviting, human touch that feels rooted in real team practice.

What I could not see
- Could not inspect actual asset download files or code packages.
- Could not view the contents of the Design Patterns category.
Ideas to borrow
- Provide tactical how-to articles addressing unique media formats and accessibility needs rather than strictly providing static UI components.
